Waimakariri’s Hannah Price has been named a finalist in the Canterbury Youth Awards, Waimakariri MP Matt Doocey says.
The awards, an initiative of Youth Voice Canterbury, will be presented on Friday 24 June at the UCSA Events Centre in Christchurch.
The Waimakariri MP is sponsoring the Supreme Youth Award for Waimakariri.
“There are eight award categories to recognise Canterbury’s outstanding young people and I am thrilled that Hannah has been named a finalist. She was nominated for her activities and achievements in leadership, giving back to the community, sport and recreation, including leading a number of projects through the Youth Council, and being a youth voice on a number of boards and committees over the last few years,” Doocey said.
“In my career in health, I worked with young adults and know how important it is to support young people in reaching their full potential, as well as the importance of acknowledging the valuable contribution young people make in North Canterbury,” Doocey said.
Judging is by an independent selection panel. Further information on the awards can be found at http://www.youthvoicecanterbury.org.nz/youth-awards.html
