Cantabrians will remember Prime Minister John Key for the strong leadership that guided the region towards recovery following the Canterbury earthquakes, Waimakariri MP Matt Doocey says.
“As a fellow Cantabrian, I would like to thank the Prime Minister for the leadership and empathy he showed us as our region recovers post-earthquakes,” Doocey said.
As a resident of Waimakariri, Doocey said he was deeply appreciative of the time the Prime Minister took out of his busy schedule to visit the Waimak to support the physical and psychosocial recovery of its residents.
The Prime Minister had led New Zealand with confidence through the global recession and the country’s strong economy was the envy of many countries, Doocey added. “He leaves New Zealand in a place of strength in a competitive, globalised world.”
“As a first-term MP, I thank the Prime Minister for his inspiration. Prime Minister, it’s been a privilege to serve in your caucus team.”
