Waimakariri MP Matt Doocey is encouraging communities to nominate their outstanding young people who are making a difference for the YMCA Canterbury Youth Awards 2018.
Nominations opened on Sunday.
Doocey said he was delighted to be back on board as the sponsor of the Matt Doocey MP Supreme Youth Award for Waimakariri.
“As local MP, I enjoy working closely with our young people and I know the hard work they put in for our community, whether by inspiring other young people and promoting the youth voice or through volunteering in a range of fields.
“It’s important we acknowledge the contribution of our young people, whether through their leadership or in how they give back to their communities. The Canterbury Youth Awards is a great initiative that shines a light on what our young people are doing in their communities,” Doocey said.
“The inaugural awards in 2016 were a celebration of the drive and commitment of some outstanding young people who are making a real difference in Canterbury. If this sounds like you, or someone you know, please put forward your nomination,” Doocey said.
Nominations for the awards close on 31 July. Go to http://www.youthvoicecanterbury.org.nz/youth-awards.html for details.
