Waimakariri MP Matt Doocey says he’s already looking forward to returning to Fernside School when the two new classrooms announced this month have been completed.
Doocey made the announcement of an around $750,000 investment for two new classrooms at Fernside School at a special assembly held at the school on October 18.
“This latest news follows a raft of investment over the past two years into Waimakariri schools to future-proof modern learning spaces for increased roll growth,” Doocey said. “You’ve only got to drive around the electorate to observe the redevelopment work being undertaken in our schools.”
The announcement was part of a second round of investments in new classrooms under Budget 2016.
“I’m proud these two new classrooms at Fernside are the first to kick off the new round,” Doocey said.
The first round saw 21 new roll growth classrooms announced for Canterbury schools as part of a $276 million investment for school infrastructure in Canterbury.
