Quarry meeting to bring together community and stakeholders, says Waimak MP

Waimakariri MP Matt Doocey says he has been asked to chair a public meeting tomorrow to provide residents and representatives from the Waimakariri District Council, Environment Canterbury, Taggart Earthmoving Ltd and the Canterbury Jockey Club and Rangiora Harness Club an opportunity to discuss the proposed quarry at Rangiora Racecourse.

“This is an emotive issue and I’ve had a number of people meet with me in my offices to talk about the proposal. People have concerns and they want information. They’re worried about widespread impacts they feel the quarry could have on their wellbeing. From the start, I’ve said I would be happy to chair a public meeting because I’ve always felt we should be discussing this as a community,” Doocey said.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday 23 February at 7pm in the Rangiora Baptist Church Hall in East Belt.
