Waimak MP backs North Canterbury’s rescue cats
North Canterbury’s rescue cats have a new champion in their local MP.
Waimakariri MP Matt Doocey has signed up to Cat Care’s Kitten Coffee Club and is challenging others to sign up to forego one cup of coffee a month to support the work being done by North Canterbury’s only registered cat rescue operation.
Doocey officially opened Cat Care Incorporated’s new purpose-built cat accommodation unit on Sunday 2 April.
The MP said he was impressed by the commitment of the dedicated group of volunteers and supporters. “It’s great these new premises will allow Cat Care to care for and rehome more adult cats and kittens.”
Doocey said the Kitten Coffee Club was a rewarding way for people to help support Cat Care in its work to vaccinate, desex and microchip rescue cats, and provide for their daily care, for just the price of a cup of coffee each month.
“People who would like to get behind the incredible work being done by Cat Care can go to www.catcare.org.nz to find out more,” Doocey said.
