Waimakariri MP urges young social entrepreneurs to apply for funding
Waimakariri youth with smart ideas that could have a positive social or environmental impact can apply for funding to take their ideas to the next level, Waimakariri MP Matt Doocey says.
“I get emailed by young people in the electorate who tell me about some of the great things they are doing and I know we have a lot of bright ideas coming from our young people. I really encourage our young social entrepreneurs to apply for a share of the $120,000 Opportunity for Young People fund,” Doocey said.
The funding will be awarded to youth with clever and achievable ideas that will make a social or environmental difference. To qualify for support, applicants must be aged between 12 and 24 years and have a social enterprise idea they want to make a reality. The panel will award funding based on the innovation, viability, potential for growth and social impact of the project, while also considering value for money.
The Opportunities for Young People funding comes from the $2 million Government Youth Enterprise Fund launched in December last year.
“Interest for this round of funding must be registered by 20 October 2015. For more information about the Opportunities for Young People Fund, go to http://www.myd.govt.nz/funding/youth-enterprise-initatives-fund.html,” Doocey said.
