PM in the electorate for some exciting openings
Hosting the Prime Minister in the Waimakarariri for the re-opening of the Oxford Town Hall made for a very special moment, Waimakariri MP Matt Doocey says.
The Rt Hon John Key officially re-opened the Oxford Town Hall after earthquake-strengthening works and an upgrade of the facilities.
“The town hall represents more than just bricks and mortar to the Oxford community,” Mr Doocey said. “From Saturday movies to school drama performances, the building has stood at the heart of Oxford and it is wonderful to see its doors open once again.”
Mr Doocey said the town hall was one of a raft of projects that had benefited from a $7 million grant from Government towards repairing and replacing Waimakariri’s earthquake-damaged community facilities.
“I’m proud to be part of a Government that is investing in our region and in our community,” Mr Doocey said.
