Waimakariri MP Matt Doocey would like to see young people who are giving back to their communities in Waimakariri electorate be nominated for the Canterbury Youth Awards.
“Youth Week 2016 is a great opportunity to honour some of the work being undertaken by our young people by nominating them for the Canterbury Youth Awards,” Doocey said.
Youth Week runs from May 21 to 29 and highlights opportunities to champion young people.
Doocey and his Youth MP, Holly Fletcher, met Tayla Reece, chairperson of Youth Voice Canterbury and one of the organisers of the Canterbury Youth Awards, and Tiz Deerson of the Waimakariri Youth Council on Friday.
“We had a really good discussion and were able to feed back some of the issues being faced by our young people which Holly and I have collated from talking to our young people ahead of Youth Parliament,” Doocey said.
