Waimakariri MP Matt Doocey’s 2017 series of evening meetings to be accessible to residents outside of business hours kicks off on Monday, 1 May.
Doocey said the positive feedback from his meetings last year encouraged him to run the evening meetings again this year across the electorate.
“Traditionally, MP’s offices are open during business hours but I am aware that life can get very busy with work and family commitments, and some constituents find it easier to access me outside of their work hours. We are increasingly communicating via email and social media, and a lot of my constituents choose to make contact with me this way. However, nothing beats connecting face to face,” Doocey said.
The meetings will all be held from 7.30pm to 8.30pm at the following venues:
Rangiora Town Hall: 1 May; Kaiapoi Library: 8 May; Woodend Community Centre: 15 May; Oxford Town Hall: 16 May; West Eyreton School: 17 May; Belfast Rugby Football Club: 18 May; Swannanoa Community Hall: 22 May; Cust Community Hall: 29 May.
“This is about having a conversation about issues that are important to people. Living and working in the electorate, it’s important to me to be accessible. There’s no need to RSVP – just turn up and join the discussions,” Doocey said.
