Waimakariri’s Hannah Price has won the Supreme Youth Award for Waimakariri, which was sponsored by Waimakariri MP Matt Doocey, at Friday’s Canterbury Youth Awards at the UCSA Events Centre in Christchurch.
The awards are an initiative of Youth Voice Canterbury to recognise young people aged between 12 and 24 who have made an outstanding contribution to their community and have had a positive impact on young people in their region.
Doocey attended the awards ceremony on Friday evening and said it was great to see what young people in the region were achieving.
“I know from my engagement with Hannah and WAIYouth the outstanding work she and the team have achieved in linking Waimakariri’s youth with decision-making processes and giving them a voice around their issues,” Doocey said.
The MP said the award recognised Hannah’s activities and achievements in leadership and in giving back to the community, sport and recreation, including leading a number of projects through the Youth Council and being a youth voice on a number of boards and committees.
