Government’s announcement gives urgency to petition, Waimak MP says

Government’s announcement on spending cuts for state highways gives urgency to his petition to save the Belfast to Pegasus motorway extension, Waimakariri MP Matt Doocey says.

Government has this week announced its plans for spending to be cut on state highways and for greater funding for Auckland public transport proposals.

“Commuters in North Canterbury and greater Christchurch deserve to receive the transport funding they require. Our residents want to see this planned project go ahead and a date to be confirmed for the Woodend Bypass. The need for a commitment to the bypass has been highlighted to me by a wide range of community groups and local residents who want to see heavy freight and traffic volumes moved out of the centre of Woodend,” Doocey said.

Doocey urged commuters to sign his petition at https://mattdoocey.national.org.nz/save_the_christchurch_northern_motorway
