I'm excited to announce the opening of my Belfast office. Having been educated at St Bede’s College and growing up in North Christchurch, I know our area well, particularly the suburbs of Redwood, Belfast, Northcote, Casebrook, Regent’s Park, Styx Mill and Northwood. I have decided to open a new office in Belfast to offer you more accessible representation and to serve you better. For me, it’s about keeping connected to our community. I look forward to meeting you at my new office on 731 Main North Rd, which opens on Monday 17 October. I’m here to help.
I enjoyed visiting Christchurch Airport recently as a member of the NZ Business and Parliament Trust. As a proud born-and-bred Cantabrian I’m aware of the importance of the airport as a main driver of our local economy and the significant role it plays in Christchurch’s recovery. Christchurch remains the South Island gateway for international visitors and set an all-time record of 6.3 million passengers last year which meant more than $180 million in new GDP into the South Island. How we engage with the world through inbound tourism and exporting our local produce is vital to our success.
A catch-up with Northcote School recently was very informative. Over the year, I have met with principals throughout the electorate and I value these visits. Our electorate can celebrate increased student achievement levels, with latest statistics showing more of our 18 year olds achieving their NCEA Level 2 qualification – this couldn’t be achieved without the dedication of our educators and the support of parents.
