Thank you Northern Christchurch for your huge support and endorsement. I was honoured by an electorate majority increase from 2,500 in 2014 to over 10,000 in 2017 that tells me you value accessibility and commitment to your area.
Over the past three years, I have enjoyed being a hands-on MP who has strived to be accessible. During the elections, I received great feedback that residents value being able to access me through my Belfast office, my evening meetings and other events I arranged to connect to you over the past three years.
I look forward to continuing to work hard to advocate on your behalf in Parliament and to ensure our communities are resourced to meet the demands of a rapidly growing area.
It was great to catch up with young achievers in North Christchurch recently. I met up with April McLennan in Northwood to hear more about Limitless, which she founded as a young school leaver to empower young New Zealanders to connect to opportunities and excel in the fields of work that inspire them. April is one of four recipients for the 2017 Minister for Youth’s International Leadership Award and it’s exciting to have this innovative social enterprise initiative in our area.
I enjoyed presenting the Belfast-Kaiapoi Rotary Club’s Young Totara Award at their presentation in Belfast recently to a very outstanding young recipient. Well done to Alexandra McCracken for her academic, social and ethical achievements.
